The AR anti reflection technology of LCD displays achieves the effect of reducing screen reflectivity, increasing transmittance, and improving screen optical performance through AR optical coating treatment on the screen surface. Simultaneously combining the use of AF coating anti fingerprint technology to improve the image quality of LCD screens.

The usage environment of LCD screens varies greatly, and they are usually more commonly used in bright environments. Especially under outdoor sunlight, the light source on the display screen surface can cause reflection or glare, which greatly reduces the display quality of the screen. Handheld devices used outdoors, or LCD display devices such as outdoor advertising screens, require special processing to achieve optimal display effects. Here we need to mention the AR anti reflection technology for LCD displays, which has a beauty like effect on display devices.

AR anti reflection technology

AR anti reflection technology, also known as Anti fingerprint in English. It is an optical coating treatment used for screen surfaces, namely AR coating. The AR coating is located at the topmost position of the LCD module structure, above the polarizer. The principle is to utilize the concept of destructive interference of light, use a dielectric film coating applied to optical surfaces, and utilize the stacked layer structure on glass surfaces to greatly improve the efficiency of optical performance by reducing the reflectivity of the screen, increasing transmittance, enhancing contrast, and eliminating ghosting. The maximum transmittance can be increased to over 99%, and the reflectivity can be controlled below 4%, making the screen clearer and improving the user's viewing experience. It has been widely used in the field of outdoor equipment and advertising screens.

AR optical coatings are easily affected by fingerprints, so the use of AF coatings is always necessary. The English name for AF coating is Anti fingerprint, which stands for AF anti fingerprint coating. The principle is to apply a layer of nano chemical coating on the glass surface of the screen to reduce the surface tension of the glass, reduce the contact area between dust and the glass surface, and thus make the liquid crystal glass have strong hydrophobicity, oil resistance, and fingerprint resistance. The coating technology combining AR and AF is widely used, which not only increases the transparency and visibility of LCD screens, improves image quality, but also has protective effects such as scratch resistance, stain resistance, and fingerprint resistance.

AR optical coatings are widely used on small and medium-sized LCD panels. For large screens, LR coating technology is usually used. The reflectivity of LR coating is around 7%, slightly higher than AR coating technology. However, as a result, LR type optical film structures are simpler and the cost is lower than AR type optical films. Please refer to the comparison table below for details.
